TIP:What is a speedboat : This term can be applied to several different kinds of boat. A speedboat may have a 400-horsepower inboard engine for propelling a 25-foot craft along the surface of the lake (though very little of the boat touches the water with some of the fastest boats). Of course there are boats available that are meant for cruising that do not approach the competition speeds of these rockets. They may be called a speedboat if they are not used for skiing or fishing.
